Warning Fault
– E138 Over-Temperature
Fault
The exhaust or tank safety sensor has exceeded the safety limit. The unit
will not operate when this fault condition is active. Fix the problem first,
then reset the over-temperature switch as described in "Resetting Fault Status"
on page 80 .
Unit may be operating with incorrect
water level.
– Check that the float chamber is
operating properly.
Exhaust vent may be blocked. – Make sure that the exhaust vent
is free of obstructions.
Dual fill valves may not be working
properly.
– Refer to the troubleshooting
procedure for fault code E145 .
Thermocouple wire may be dam -
aged.
– Visualy inspect the thermo -
couple wire for kinks or other
damage.
Excess scale build-up on the coils of
the primary heat-exchanger.
– Remove scale build-up – refer to
"Cleaning the Tank" on page 57 .
Temperature of the water supply may
be too high.
– Check that the temperature of
the water supply. For optimal
performance, temperature must
not exceed 70 °F (21 °C).
Exhaust condensate removal (on CS/
NX model) may be blocked.
– Check for blockages in the ex -
haust drain line in the unit.
W139 – No Burners Available All burners have been disabled through the control software. No burn -
ers are available for operation of the unit. The unit will not respond to a
demand until one or more burners is enabled.
Burners disabled.
– Enable the burners in the control
software.
– E140 Keep Warm Fault The Keep Warm function is activated, but the tank temperature has not
increased in the allotted time.
Loose connection.
– Check the tank temperature sen -
sor connection.
Burners may be disabled. – Check that no more than one
burner is disabled in the control
software.
Scale build-up on the temperature
sensor.
CAUTION! The tank may be hot to
the touch.
– Carefully remove scale build-up
on the sensor as described in
"Cleaning the Tank" on page 57 .
Defective temperature sensor. CAUTION! The tank may be hot to
the touch.
– Check the tank to see if it is hot.
Then check the electrical signal
to the sensor. Replace the sen -
sor, if defective.
