Non-Stop Configuration (Primary)  

Non-Stop Configuration allows setting Non-Stop relationships, IP addresses, and Non-Stop parameters for the 
primary unit of the Non-Stop pair.  

If you are configuring a primary unit of a Non-Stop pair, reference the following figure and definitions.

Non-Stop Peer (Primary) details: 

Name 

A unique name that is given to the primary Non-Stop unit. It is suggested that the 
default name ‘CSfailover’ be used for the primary Non-Stop unit. 

Address 

The IP of the local (primary) unit of the Non-Stop pair being configured. 

Peer Address 

The IP of the remote (secondary) unit of the Non-Stop pair. 

Max Response Delay 

Do not change from 30, unless instructed to do so by Comsift technical support. 

Maximum Client Lead Time  Do not change from 1800, unless instructed to do so by Comsift technical support. 

HBA 

Leave blank, unless instructed otherwise by Comsift technical support. 

Non-Stop Relationship 

This must be set to ‘primary’ if this is to be the primary Non-Stop unit. 

Port 

This defines the port the local unit will listen on for Non-Stop events. Do not 
change from port 520, unless instructed to do so by Comsift technical support. 

Peer Port 

This defines the port the remote unit will listen on for non-Stop events. Do not 
change from port 520, unless instructed to do so by Comsift technical support. 

Max Unacked Updates 

Do not change from 10, unless instructed to do so by Comsift technical support. 

Load balance max seconds  Do not change from 3, unless instructed to do so by Comsift technical support. 

Auto Partner-down 

In the event that communication is lost with the peer, this feature is used to place 
the ComSifter in the Partner-down mode. In this mode, the ComSifter believes it is 
the only remaining ComSifter and takes complete control of the lease file, 
including leases that had been sourced from the peer unit. 

Warning:

 

When Non-Stop communication is interrupted, each Non-Stop unit will assume 
the other Non-Stop is non-operational. It will continue to hand out leases it has 
reserved, but will not hand out leases that the other Non-Stop has reserved. If 
possible, the Comsifter units will send an email message stating that there is a 
problem with non-stop operation and alerting the email recipient that a partner-
