True RMS measurement

3.3

This controller measures AC values based on

True RMS

principle. This principle corresponds exactly

to the physical definition of alternating voltage effective values. Under normal circumstances the mains
voltage should have a pure sinusoidal waveform. However some nonlinear elements connected to the
mains produce harmonic waveforms with frequencies of multiplies of the basic mains frequency and
this may result in deformation of the voltage waveforms. The True RMS measurement

gives accurate

readings

of effective values not only for pure sinusoidal waveforms, but also for deformed waveforms.
