Line pattern time
For each output channel (1…4) a time can be defined at which the specific output is
active. The resulting time for each line pattern is determined by the largest value.
Example corresponding to the diagram above:
Line pattern 3:
-> active time for flash channel 3 = 150 µs
-> active time for flash channel 4 = 110 µs
the resulting duration of line pattern 3 = 150 µs
The minimum time for a line pattern is defined by the following parameters:
1. Minimum integration time of the camera:
The minimum integration time depends on the speed of the camera (minimum
possible integration time) and the scan line length.
2. Minimum time for output of a scan line via Camera Link interface:
The time for transfer of a scan via Camera Link depends on the selected Camera
Link mode (base, medium, full) and the Camera Link frequency.
A table with the dependencies of the possible scan line speed with different Camera Link
modes is show in section 2.2
„Camera speed for available Camera Link modes and
NOTE
If the length of a line pattern is shorter than the minimum possible line time
(regarding minimal camera integration time and Camera Link speed), the
camera automatically increases the specific line pattern time before starting
next line pattern.
This then also increases the required sequence time.
Sequence time:
Free-running mode:
The camera sequence time is the defined time for one full sequence with up to 4
individual line patterns. During one sequence time cycle the camera outputs as many
number of lines as line patterns are defined.
The sequence time (in combination with the transport speed) defines the transport
resolution of the image.
Triggered mode (encoder/line trigger):
One full sequence is executed per trigger signal. Within such a sequence the camera
outputs as many lines as line patterns are defined (1 up to 4 line patterns are
possible). If four line patterns are used, the camera outputs four lines for each trigger
signal.
Make sure that the sum of all line pattern time definitions is short enough to be
completely executed at full speed scanning.
If the allowed value for the sequence time is too short to cover all defined line pattern
times, the camera returns an appropriate error code:
0xD7: LED flash mode: sum of all pattern exceed sequence time
The camera also goes into free-running mode operating with the speed defined by
sequence/patter time.
