7.4.2 Abnormal conditions in printing (ink filled)
<Possible symptoms>
Step 1:
• Cannot recognize the SCSI.
• Check patterns can be printed, but the printing from the host computer is
incorrect.
Step 2:
• Cannot print at all.
• Printing the check patterns and also from the host computer are incorrect
• Textures appear on the image.
<Probable faulty component>
Host computer, SCSI cable, BJ print head, linear scale, carriage unit, image process
controller, head controller, system controller.
<Action for Step 1>
1. SCSI cable:
Visually check for abnormal conditions such as the bent connector pins.
2. PC:
Connect the PC with the service tool installed to the printer and issue a set of
print data. Replace the PC if no further abnormal conditions are detected.
3. Replace the image process controller.
4. Replace the system controller.
<Action for Step 2>
1. Print position adjustment check:
Execute the print position adjustment and modify the misalignment between
nozzles.
2. BJ print head:
Execute cleaning, and if the condition does not improve, replace the BJ print
head.
3. Linear scale:
Visually check the linear scale for abnormal conditions, such as stains or damage.
4. Replace the carriage unit.
5. Replace the head controller.
6. Replace the image process controller.
7. Replace the system controller.
