The MSM must always be replaced in the lower switch module slot, and the
ESM must always be replaced in the upper switch module slot. Placing the
boards in the incorrect slot causes the ZX-250 switch to fail.

Removing I/O Modules

Ground yourself using a Cabletron-approved ESD device and appropriate safety procedures.

Once a switch module is removed from the chassis, unfasten the IOMs from the switch module (see
Figure 4-9), using a screw driver (2 screws from the bottom, 1 screw from the front).

Remove the IOMs from the switch module (one at a time) by lifting them upward from the switch
module, disconnecting them from the switch modules’s DIN connector (see Figure 4-9).
