Collar Removal and Installation
General Description
This information will guide a service technician
through the correct procedures for removing and
installing the collars used on BCGP Impact RHIB
boats.
You should only perform this work procedure if you are
removing the collar system to repair extensive dam-
age or to replace it.
Removal
The boat must be out of the water on a trailer or on a
dolly before you begin this work process.
Follow these steps, in order, to remove the collar sys-
tem:
• Deflate all seven collar air chambers
• Remove any accessories that might be stored on,
or attached to, the collar
• Remove the lashing cord that holds the
lower
edges of the boarding chafe system in place
• Identify the
inside
and
outside
collar HDPE
clamping bars using a method that will allow you
to put them back in the exact same locations
• Make several alignment marks that will allow you
to put the collar back in the exact same location
• Remove the screws and tab plates that attach the
collar tabs to the transom
• Remove the aluminum bow cap, four lashing “D”
rings, and fasteners
• Remove all the
outside
fasteners, lashing “D”
rings, and HDPE clamping bars
!
WARNING
DO NOT put this boat in the water for any
reason while the collar is removed. The boat
might become unstable and capsize under
certain conditions.
