If a value shown in the calculator is selected for transfer by using the "copy"
key, it is automatically available for insertion at any place in the clipboard, irre‐
spective if within the calculator or outside after closing of the calculator (e.g. in
an editor). The result is then inserted using <Ctrl>+<V> and/or an equivalent F
key for insertion from the clipboard. Utilization of the clipboard is the most uni‐
versal operation for transferring a result and is generally possible in all text
editors and text boxes. So this way of insertion is always available to you.
The direct insertion of values reduced the number of operations and presumes
that
●
the text box into which the result is to be inserted has received the entry
focus before opening of the calculator,
●
the calculator is called using a shortcut and
●
the dialog into which the result is to be inserted has been prepared for the
direct insertion.
The possibility to directly insert the value is always available if the calculator
dialog shows one pushbutton with "OK" and one with "Cancel". I.e. the possi‐
bility to directly enter a value can be seen from the layout of the calculator dialog.
The OK button inserts the selected results or also several values shown on a
calculation form and closes the dialog (direct insertion). OK will be disabled as
long as no result has been selected and/or an entry error is pending.
The "Cancel" pushbutton closes the calculator without directly inserting a result
afterwards. If a result has been selected by means of "Copy" in advance, it can
be inserted from the clipboard.
The "Close" pushbutton is shown if insertion is only possible via the clipboard.
It closes the calculator dialog.
If an entry field in the calculation forms is edited, the fields mathematically de‐
pending on this field are automatically emptied. From this temporary emptying,
you can very well see the mathematical relations of the single variables. Cal‐
culation of the depending variables from the specifications is initiated by means
of the return key (<Enter>). With the calculator, you can also use the result key
("=" key or shortcut <=>).
Incorrect entries that are pointed out by means of a display or an error box can
generally (except for the calculator) be corrected by immediately changing the
text box concerned or by discarding the latest entry using <ESC>.
After the calculation, the calculation forms (again except for the calculator)
show several numerical values that can be considered for the result transfer.
The desired result must then be selected using the "Copy" pushbutton located
on the right (for the calculator the "COPY" key). Alternatively, you can set the
focus into the text box concerned and copy the value shown there using
<Ctrl>+<C>. It is also possible to select one part of the shown content by mark‐
ing it in advance. The selection by copying the value enables the "OK" button
for the direct insertion. Calculation forms without pushbuttons allow for the
analysis of all visible and relevant values in the target dialog and their recording
(insertion) as entries.
As described above, direct insertion is initiated using the "OK" button if it is
available. Otherwise, you must insert the clipboard content.
