5.1.1
General
The servo-hydraulic actuator “CytroForce-M” integrates the power of
hydraulics, which can be generated with a very small oil volume within an
enclosed system, with the dynamics and precision of electrics while offering
flexible networking capability. Positioning heavy-duty applications, which
involve large axial forces, with micron-level accuracy, powerful pressing, joining
or closing: These tasks can be performed cost-efficiently with the servo-
hydraulic actuator. The servo-hydraulic actuator is a perfectly matched and
tested complete package − from the mains adapter through to the piston rod −
including pre-parameterization of the drive controller, software, firmware and
technology functions for alternating control of pressure, force and position
(PFC). Control cabinets can optionally be ordered to complete the system
package.
The essential functions of the servo-hydraulic actuator are:

Closed-loop position/force-controlled operation (rapid mode/force change-
over) and correction

Optional safety function (safe halt, safe velocity and safe direction of
motion)

Force holding function

Types of design
Servo-hydraulic actuators are available in the variants “integrated” or “split”. In
terms of function, the two variants cover the same field of applications, they
mainly differ in the cylinder connection and compactness.
“CytroForce-M Integrated” is an axis on the basis of a 3D sand core casting to
offer a compact design with optimum flow profile. In this variant, the cylinder is
integrated in the block. Various component placement options provide func-
tional and mechanical variance.
“CytroForce-M Split” is executed as normal drilled block and can be supplied
with flange-mounted cylinder or a port for cylinders with pipe/flexible hose
connection. In the last case, third-party cylinders may also be connected, e.g.
for a retrofit system. The “split” variant comprises a basic block and various
function modules that can optionally be fitted to the basic block.
5.1.3
Structure
The main components of the servo-hydraulic actuator basically consist of an
IndraDrive drive controller with the technology function “Position Force Con-
trol” (PFC), an IndraDyn S motor, a hydraulic cylinder with integrated position
measuring system and an axial piston pump for the hydraulically closed system.
In addition, pressure and temperature sensors, a compensating tank, a filter
and valves are integrated in the hydraulic block. Apart from the power elec-
tronics, mains filters and chokes are optionally available. Safety functions such
has safe restraint, safely limited velocity and safe standstill can optionally be
integrated. These functions are provided via the safety technology integrated in
the drive controller. The servo-hydraulic actuator communicates with the
higher-level machine control over a field bus system.
