GasFinderMC Installation Manual — Operating Instructions July 17th 2017
Concentration units:
•
this item displays the units chosen to display the gas concentration
in the main display. These can be adjusted between
ppmm
(parts per million metre: the
total amount of gas along the path),
ppm
(parts per million: average concentration along
the path) and
mg/m
3
(milligrams per cubic metre).
Note that the value of
ppm
will only be correct if the path distance is entered correctly.
ppmm / m = ppm
. See Appendix C for a more detailed explanation.
Gas Alarm Filter
•
: the alarm fi lter is used to specify the number of consecutive readings
where the gas concentration value is above the alarm setting before the alarm is initiated.
Gas Warn Filter:
•
the warn fi lter is used to specify the number of consecutive readings where
the gas concentration value is above the warning setting before the alarm is initiated.
System Diagnostics:
•
not used at this time.
Alarm Test Menus:
•
this submenu allows the user to test the warning and alarm features
by forcing the output of the
GasFinderMC
to mimic the alarm. It does not require the use
of high gas levels. The Dry Contact Relay* and the 4 - 20mA* modules can also be tested
with this submenu.
Select/Force Channel - all:
selects which channels to test.
Force ppmm:
sets the value in ppmm which will trigger a warning or alarm.
Force Gas Warn:
enables or disables warning circuits.
Force Gas Alarm:
enables or disables alarm circuits.
Low Light Overide:
tests the low light warning circuits.

Serial Baud Rate:
•
this item allows the user to select the baud rate at which data are
transmitted from the
GasFinderMC
instrument, depending on the storage device/
computer used. Available options are: 300 to 230,400 baud. The serial data parameters
are detailed in Section 4 of this manual.
Auxilliary Mode:
•
not used at this time.
Serial Commands:
•
this item enables the
GasFinderMC
to receive commands from a
computer running the
GasViewMC
program or any terminal program. These commands
are described in Appendix F and the user manual for
GasviewMC
.
Ref Cell Check:
•
this displays the quality of the reference cell.
Pressing ESC twice will return the user to the main menu and pressing ESC again will start
the calibration sequence.
Password Protected Menus:
•
These menus are accessible only for Boreal Laser personnel
and their representatives.
