Opening from the inside
Press the button.
The tailgate is opened if the vehicle is station‐
ary, provided that the tailgate has not been
locked.
Closing from the inside
Keep the closing path clear
Make sure that the closing path is clear;
otherwise, injuries may result.◀
Pull and hold the button.
An acoustic signal sounds and the tail‐
gate closes.
Releasing the button stops the motion.
Monitor the closing process
Monitor the closing process to ensure
that no one becomes trapped.◀
Manual opening
When there is an electrical defect.
1. Fold the rear seat backrest forward.
2. In the lower tailgate, loosen and remove
the cover using the onboard tool kit or a
suitable object.
3. Pull the plastic hose in the direction of the
interior.
The tailgate is unlocked.
4. Open the top tailgate, and press the plastic
hose back in.
5. Insert and close the cover.
The tailgate is locked again as soon as it is
closed.
Closing
The recessed grip on the inside trim of the tail‐
gate makes pulling down the tailgate easy.
