2.2 Overview of Setup method
To simplify the procedure of setup, BR256 is designed to support all of setup options by front panel LCD.
The default configuration and parameters are default for RAID-6 mode. BR256 is supposed to up and run
without changing default setting unless a special configuration needed. To prevent malfunction, BR256
setting cannot be changed during operation
2.3 Setup display navigation
This section will go through the parameters setup displayed on LCD screen.
If this is first time to power on the unit, an Initialization Procedure should be done first. When powering up
the BR256 unit, press and hold the Mode button (besides LCD) at power on. (
Notice: this will clean up
the system status and parameters recorded in non-volatile memory.

Without performing initialization, the LCD display might show

indicating the status of last time. A normal display with drives properly populated will look like

To change Parameters, BR256 needs to be powered on for Parameter Setup mode. Press the Mode
and Select buttons at the same time while turning on power switch. Under Parameter Setup mode,
users can also configure parameters via Ethernet connection and perform firmware upgrade.

To save changed parameters, pressing MODE and SELECT button once at the same time, parameters
will be written to internal non-volatile memory then the change is recorded.
When you successfully change the parameter, you will see

Then please power cycle the system or press SELECT button for 3 seconds to take parameters effective.
