PERIODIC MAINTENANCE
Regularly scheduled preventive maintenance and
inspection is essential for continued reliable
operation. TABLE 7-1 lists the minimum
requirements to maintain the table in a ready
condition.
TABLE 7-1.
RECOMMENDED MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE
Maintenance Item
Maintenance Period
Inspection:
Electrical safety (visual)
Monthly
Remove base cover to check for
contamination around foot pump shaft.
Clean as required
Quarterly
Hydraulic system operation
6 monthly
Ground continuity/leakage current
6 monthly
Flexible

lines
Annually
Hydraulic fluid level
Annually or whenever leakage is suspected or hydraulic
components have been replaced.
Fasteners and retaining clips
Annually
Clamps and accessories
Annually
Structural integrity of the table

Annually
Replacement:
Batteries
Every 3 years or when charge/discharge cycle drops
below five – eight hour shifts.
ELECTRICAL INSPECTION
Inspect the power cord for insulation cracks and cuts.
Replace the power cord if damage is found.
Inspect the integrity of the connectors.
Inspect the power centers for damage (see Figure 6-
20). Replace broken parts.
Internal electrical inspection is not required unless
the covers have been removed for corrective
maintenance. In this case, all electrical connections
should be checked for tightness prior to installing the
covers.
HYDRAULIC SYSTEM OPERATION
NOTE
NOTE
– In order to test the foot pump,
you must use the auxiliary pendant to
select the function to be tested.
All functions, including the foot pump, may not be
used on a day-to-day basis. Therefore, all hydraulic
functions should be verified as being operational with
the main pendant, the auxiliary pendant, and the foot
pump.
GROUND CONTINUITY/LEAKAGE CURRENT
This is a test of the AC safety of the system. This
should be checked with a safety analyzer, such as a
Bio-Tek 170. This is normally a periodic facility
requirement and should be tested in accordance with
their test plans.
FLEXIBLE HYDRAULIC LINES
This requires the removal of the base covers, the side
shields, and the column covers (remove lower
fasteners, and slide the shields up).
The hydraulic lines should be inspected for wear and
for tightness at connection points.
The areas around the hydraulic lines should be
inspected for signs of oil, indicating a leak that needs
repair.
HYDRAULIC FLUID LEVEL
The hydraulic fluid level should not change unless
there is a leak.
