acceleration, refer to engine manufacturer’s manual for
troubleshooting procedures.

If step a through step c do not reveal cause of surge,
inspect turbine assembly.
2.
Power Train
a.
If compressor stall occurs below 59% main rotor mast
torque, comply with the following:
(1)
Remove magnetic chip detectors from
transmission and tail rotor gearbox, and inspect for metal
particles.
(2)
If no indication of metal particles is found on chip
detectors, clean chip detectors and reinstall. Return helicopter
to limited flight status and repeat chip detector inspection in 5 to
10 hours. If positive indication of metal chips is found on chip
detectors on initial or 5 to 10 hour inspection, return unit for
overhaul, noting the reason.
b.
If compressor stall occurs at 62% (59% for Model 222B)
mast torque or above, comply with the following:
(1)
Remove magnetic chip detectors from
transmission and tail rotor gearbox, and inspect for metal
particles. If no indication of metal particles is found on chip
detectors, clean chip detectors and reinstall. If positive
indication of metal chips is found on chip detectors, return unit
for overhaul, noting the reason. Clean all affected oil lines and
replace oil coolers.
