Chapter 66 4. lnspect forward tail rotor driveshaft hanger coupling disc
assembly for cracks radiating from bolt holes, corrosion,
wrinkles, or other evidence of overstress. E1
Chapter 66 5. Remove forward and aft tail rotor driveshaft covers and
inspect hanger assemblies for security of attachment, cracks at
mounting ears, and corrosion or mechanical damage. Check
bearings for evidence of grease seal leakage and discoloration
caused by overheating. T1/T2
Chapter 66 6. lnspect driveshaft hanger coupling discs and the disc at the
tail rotor gearbox input quill for cracks radiating from bolt holes,
corrosion, wrinkles, or other evidence of overstress. T1/T2
Chapter 53 7. Visually inspect horizontal stabilizer auxiliary fins for
obvious damage and security of attachment. T1/T2
Chapter 53 8. Visually inspect upper and lower surface of stabilizer for
indications of cracks immediately adjacent to stabilizer support
attaching stabilizer to tailboom. T1/T2
Chapter 53 9. lnspect tail skid for obvious damage and security of
attachment. T1/T2
Chapter 53 10. lnspect vertical fin assembly for damage. T1/T2

Chapter 53 11. lnspect the vertical fin attachment bolts/nuts for proper
torque as follows:
a. For helicopters prior to TB 222-98-156, torque the nut in
the tightening direction while restraining the bolt head. If
90 inch-pounds (10 Nm) of torque is reached without nut
movement, increase the torque to 110 inch-pounds (12.5 Nm) of
torque. If the nut moves below 90 inch-pounds (10 Nm) of
torque, proceed with 2-year Inspection.
