AFTER EVERY 1000 HOURS OF OP-
ERATION perform the previous main-
tenance procedures plus the follow-
ings:
Procedure 42. Checking the Bolts Fas-
tening Two Engine Cylinder Head for
Proper Tightening
The bolts should be tightened on a
warmed-up engine in the following se-
quence:
•
Remove the hoods and covers of the
cylinder heads;
•
Remove the rocking arm shafts with
the rocking arms and brackets;
•
Check the tightening torque of all the
bolts by means of a dynamometric
wrench in the sequence shown in Fig.
on the right (for the sake of simplicity,
only one cylinder head is shown). The
torque should be within 190...210 N
•
m
(19...21 kgf
•
m) limits.
On finishing the tightening operation, refit
the rocking arm shaft; check and re-
adjust as necessary the valve-to-arm
clearances (refer to Procedure 27).

Changing the Brake
Fluid in the Clutch and Brake Actua-
tors
Clutch Actuator:
- Remove the protective cap (28) (see
Section “Construction and Operation
”
,
figure in item “Clutch Actuator
”
) and
draw a rubber hose onto the head of
the bypass valve (29) having put
another end of the hose into a vessel;
- Turn the valve (29) by one revolution;
- Step on the clutch pedal for forward
motion several times, until the brake fluid
is removed completely from the system;
- Step on the clutch pedal for reverse
motion several times, until the brake fluid
is removed completely from the system;
- Pour fresh brake fluid and bleed air
from the hydraulic clutch control system
for the forward and reverse motion (see
Section “Construction and Operation
”
,
item “Bleeding the air from the hydraulic
clutch control system
”
).
Brake actuator:
- Remove the protective cap and draw
a rubber hose onto the head of the by-
pass valve of one of the service brake
cylinders 16, 19 (see Section “Con-
struction and Operation
”
, item “Hydrau-
lic Brake Actuator of the BELARUS-

another end of the hose into a vessel;
- Turn out the bypass valve by one revo-
lution;
- Step on the interlocked brake pedals (5,
6) for forward motion several times, until
the brake fluid is removed completely
from the system;
- Step on the reverse pedal (2) of the
master brake cylinder of reverse (3) for
reverse motion several times, until the
brake fluid is removed completely from
the system;
- Repeat the above procedure for the
second service brake cylinder.
- Pour fresh brake fluid and bleed air
from the hydraulic brake actuator system
for the forward and reverse motion.
