Inspection of Air Cleaner
Liners and piston rings so that the engine will
always operate smoothly.
A contaminated air cleaner element may
cause malfunction of the engine.
Inspect the air cleaner by checking the
vacuum indicator.
If the air cleaner element is contaminated,
the vacuum indicator will display a red ring.

Make sure that there is no damage to the
air cleaner.
Make sure that the air cleaner is not
contaminated.
Cleaning of Air Cleaner
A contaminated air cleaner element may
cause malfunction of the engine.
To maximize the life of the engine, clean the
air cleaner properly.
Important
The inner element cannot be cleaned.
Follow the steps below to clean the outer
element.
Remove the clips from the three
locations, remove the air cleaner cap,
and then remove the outer element.
While paying close attention not to
damage the outer element, tap a solid
portion of the outer element or blow
compressed air from its inside to remove
dust and dirt.
If the outer element is extremely
contaminated, replace it with a new one.

Attach the outer element to the air
cleaner body.
Replace the air cleaner cap, and then fix
it securely using the clips.
