AutoTune and Stops
This procedure takes 3 to 10 minutes and strokes the valve in large and small steps to set the
PID parameters for best positioning response.
To autoTUNE the SVI II ESD:
1. Press
*
to begin the
autoTUNE
procedure.
Numerical messages display, indicating the procedure is working.
2.
TUNE
appears when autoTUNE is complete.
3. Press
+
repeatedly until
SETUP
appears.
4. Press
*
to return to
SETUP
menu
CALIB
appears. The valve moves to the value set
by the current calibrator.
5. Stroke the valve through its range to verify that the movement is as desired.
6. Press
+
to return to
SETUP
.
7. Press
+
to return to
NORMAL
mode.
Check-out with a HART
®
Handheld Communicator
Connect the HART
®
Handheld Communicator (HHC) to the SVI II ESD as shown in Figure 22. Refer
to the product manual for the HART
®
Communication devices.

Communicator Connections
Be sure that the configuration lock jumper is in the unlock position. When the jumper is in the lock
position (shorting the two-pin header) the handheld is not permitted to make any changes; how-
ever, parameters are readable. If fault messages appear, they must be handled before proceed-
ing with HART
®
communications. For example, the following message appears if the instrument
has been serviced and the air is not connected.
