Enabling Redundant Ethernet Mode
Redundant Ethernet mode selection is enabled by a vendor tag in the bootp response. You do not
need to access the ROM banner on each card.
1. Edit the /etc/bootptab file on the selected bootp/TFTP server.
2. Insert the string :T130="IPMP": into the following existing lines in the bootptab file to activate
IPMP using the precompiled defaults.
a. Windows
tms1:bf=tms_860.smod:hd=%MPSHOME%\PERItms\images:
T130="IPMP":ht=ethernet:ha=000000000000:ip=192.168.101.2
b. Solaris
tms1:bf=tms_860.smod:hd=/tftpboot:T130="IPMP"
ht=ethernet:ha=000000000000::ip=10.7.1.1:sa=10.7.0.1
Note:
The IP assigned to entry :sa should be the bge0 IP, which is the data address
defined in /etc/hosts file. For further details, see
Configuring IPMP for Solaris Based
on page 102.
The default values are:
• Normal IPMP
• Filter for three packets on the inactive interface to switch
• Gratuitous beacon sent every 1/2 second.
