10. Inspect shift cam detent stopper and shift cam detent
for worn rollers or broken spring.

11. Inspect bearings for discoloration, flaking, or rough-
ness and binding when turning.
12. Inspect and thoroughly clean all bearing pockets,
thread bores, and plug openings to remove any metal
filings or dirt accumulations.

13. Clean all parts to be used for assembling in parts-
cleaning solvent; then dry with compressed air.
Assembling Countershaft
1. Place the thrust washer on the splined end of the
countershaft; then install the low driven gear bushing
and bearing.
