Planning Your
OmniTouch ACS Stack
Overview
Purpose
This chapter highlights important information in preparing your network to support a
stack.
Contents
This chapter covers the following procedure:
To prepare your network
The following addresses recommended preparation for your telecommunications network
to support an OmniTouch ACS stack.

1
Purchase an Ethernet switch.
You will need to supply an Ethernet switch for the stack backplane (
secondary
[eth1]
interfaces on your servers). The switch is dedicated to the stack, and only needs
enough ports for the stack servers themselves. (For an IP stack, this is N ports, where
N is the number of servers. For a PSTN stack, you need 2N ports – one Ethernet and
one audio.)

2
Determine backplane switch port requirements.
The recommendations here conform to the requirements discussed in
Appendix B.
