Serial Numbers and Repair Information
Agilent Technologies makes frequent improvements to its products to
enhance performance, usability, or reliability. Agilent Technologies
service personnel have access to complete records of design changes to
each type of equipment, based on the equipment's serial number.
Whenever you contact Agilent Technologies about a product, have the
complete serial number available to ensure obtaining the most complete
and accurate information possible.
The serial number label is usually attached to the rear of the product.
The serial number has two parts: the prefix (two letters and the first
four numbers), and the suffix (the last four numbers).
Figure 1-1
Serial Number Label Example
The two letters identify the country in which the unit was
manufactured. The four numbers of the prefix are a code identifying the
date of the last major design change incorporated in your
Agilent Technologies product. The four-digit suffix is a sequential
number and, coupled with the prefix, provides a unique identification
for each unit produced. Whenever you list the serial number or refer to
it in obtaining information about your Agilent Technologies product, be
sure to use the complete number, including the full prefix and the
suffix.
Units which were produced before the serial number format was
changed may also be covered by this documentation. On earlier serial
number labels, the prefix consists of the first four numbers and a single
letter. The suffix is a five-digit sequential number.
