MEASURING A PRODUCT
3.1
GENERAL INDICATIONS
HWS.1 performs the continuous measurement of a product when it is positioned correctly in the measuring field with
a short sampling time (approximate measurement). This allows you to immediately view the product centring and
alignment indications. When positioning is correct, the diameter value appears on the display in a green box.
The product to be measured must be positioned correctly in the measurement field within the centring range and in
the horizontal inclination limits as described in the following chapters. Follow the indications which appear on the
display to position the product correctly, as described in the following chapters.
PLEASE REFER TO CHAPTER 3.2 PRODUCT POSITIONING
The actual measurement is obtained by
pressing the trigger on the instrument
: this way the value measured
according to the Averaging Mode programmed is "frozen" on the display for the amount of time set in the measure
setup and the value is saved in the instrument memory and becomes available for subsequent data download.
For programming the averaging mode
PLEASE REFER TO CHAPTER 3.3 AVERAGING MODE
To press the trigger, the "
Safe/Arm
" must be in
position A
Attention:
The trigger is magnetically operated: avoid operating in the presence of strong magnetic fields and/or do
not use magnets close to the gun. The presence of magnetic fields may cause malfunction of the trigger.
For information regarding setting the average time, the permanence time of the measurement on the display and
data saving.
PLEASE REFER TO CHAPTER 2.14 MEASURE SETUP

PRODUCT POSITIONING
To perform the measurement correctly, the product must be positioned correctly in the measurement field.
During measurement operations, the display provides some information to help correctly position the instrument. The
indications regard the position of the HWS.1 with respect to the product to be measured, and regard:
•
centering the product in the horizontal measuring field
•
centering the product in the vertical measuring field
•
inclination of the product on the horizontal axis
During measurement, the product's horizontal axis must be positioned in the middle of the measurement field.
The useful area for the measurement is a 12x5 mm rectangle centred with respect to the instrument's optical field
(see figures below)
