8.6 Switching Standalone mode to Transparent and vice versa
For changing the mode of operation of the reader the following options can be used:
A. Use the
readmode command
, examples:
a. The reader is in Standalone mode and the "
readmode transparent<CR>
" command is
sent, so the reader enters Transparent operation mode.
b. The reader is in transparent mode and the
$off<CR> command
is sent, so the reader
enters standalone mode with hid interface.
B. Use the "Caps Lock" key (Windows and Linux only), example:
a. Close any serial communication with the reader;
b. To switch between one operating mode and another, simply
quickly click the
CapsLock key 5 times in sequence
and check the reader's LEDs to see the change.
NOTE: When
in transparent mode, the reader does not echo the characters typed in the
serial terminal.
ALERT
:
The Caps Lock shortcut for switching the operating
mode only
works
if and only if the serial port of the reader is not connected (not being
used by any Software).
