Information for Safe Operation – ATEX
8.2.1 Inspection
Before installing the flowmeter primary check for possible damage due to improper handling during ship-
ment. All claims for damages should be made promptly to the shipper. The installation requirements are to
be observed (see Fig. 37). The start-up and operation must be in accord with ElexV (VO in explosion haz-
ardous areas) and EN 60079-14 (Installing Electrical Systems in Explosion Hazardous Areas). The installation
and start-up as well as maintenance may only be performed by appropriately trained personnel. The start-
up procedure described here is begun after the flowmeter primary has been installed and the electrical con-
nections completed. The supply power is turned off.
8.2.2 Output
Circuits
Installation of Intrinsically Safe „i“ or Increased Safety „e“
The output circuits are designed to be connected to either intrinsically safe or non-intrinsically safe circuits.
A combination of intrinsically safe and non-intrinsically circuits is not permissible. For intrinsically safe output
current circuits Potential Equalization must be maintained along the entire circuit. The test voltage for the
non-intrinsically safe circuits is U
T
= 60 V. When shipped the black cable connectors are installed. If the signal
outputs are to be connected to intrinsically safe circuits, it is recommended that the included light blue caps
be used for the corresponding cable connectors.
8.2.3 NAMUR-Contact
Using the plug-in jumper the contact output and the pulse output (Terminals 41, 42 / 51, 52) can internally
be configured as a NAMUR-Contact for connection to a NAMUR-Amplifier. The as shipped configuration is
the standard connection. The plug-in jumper can be used to change the configuration as shown in Fig. 37.
(See also Chapter Interconnection Diagrams).
!
Attention!
The following information must be observed when the instrument housing is to be opened:
•
Assure that an explosion hazard does not exist.
•
A fire department permission certificate must have been issued.
•
All connection leads must be potential free.
•
When the housing is opened the EMC- and personnel contact protection are voided.
The surface temperature of the flowmeter primary may exceed 70 °C dependent on the fluid temperature!
