The respirator wearer must be fi t tested using a quantitative fi t test method in order to use an assigned protection factor
greater than 10 when used as a negative pressure air purifying respirator.
NOTE:
Assigned protection factors (APFs) may vary for specifi c standards as promulgated by Occupational Safety and Health
Administration (OSHA). Where applicable, refer to the substance specifi c standard for APFs that may differ from the above
table. In Canada, follow CSA standard Z94.4 or the requirements of the authority having jurisdiction in your region.
NIOSH Cautions and Limitations
A – Not for use in atmospheres containing less than 19.5 percent oxygen.
B – Not for use in atmospheres immediately dangerous to life or health.
C – Do not exceed maximum use concentrations established by regulatory standards.
D – Air-line respirators can be used only when the respirators are supplied with respirable air meeting the requirements of
CGA G-7.1 Grade D or higher quality.
E – Use only the pressure ranges and hose lengths specifi ed in the
User’s Instructions
.
G – If airfl ow is cut off, switch to fi lter and/or cartridge or canister and immediately exit to clean air.
H – Follow established cartridge and canister change schedules or observe ESLI to ensure that cartridges and canisters are
replaced before breakthrough occurs.
I – Contains electrical parts which have not been evaluated as an ignition source in fl ammable or explosive atmospheres by
MSHA/NIOSH.
J – Failure to properly use and maintain this product could result in injury or death.
K – The OSHA regulations require gas-proof goggles to be worn with this respirator when used against formaldehyde.
L – Follow the manufacturer’s
User’s Instructions
for changing cartridges, canister and/or fi lters.
M – All approved respirators shall be selected, fi tted, used, and maintained in accordance with MSHA, OSHA, and other
applicable regulations.
N – Never substitute, modify, add, or omit parts. Use only exact replacement parts in the confi guration as specifi ed by the
manufacturer.
O – Refer to
User’s Instructions
, and/or maintenance manuals for information on use and maintenance of these respirators.
P – NIOSH does not evaluate respirators for use as surgical masks.
S – Special or critical
User’s Instructions
and/or specifi c use limitations apply. Refer to User’s Instructions before donning.

User’s Instructions
Remove the inhalation valves from the half or full facepiece respirator prior to the installation of the combination dual
airline breathing tubes SA-1600 or SA-2600 with fi lters and/or cartridges. Store the inhalation valves so they remain fl at
and free of contamination.
Air Supply Requirements for 3M™ Dual Airline Systems with 3M™ Ultimate FX Full
Facepiece Respirator FF-400 Series
3M™ Dual Airline and 3M™ Ultimate FX Full Facepiece Respirator FF-400 Series system approvals allow you to combine up
to three W-9435 or W-9445 hoses (25, 50 or 100 ft) in any combination not to exceed 300 ft. The W-2929 and W-3020 hoses
can only be used in single lengths of 25, 50, or 100 ft. No connections are allowed. Refer to the table below for supply air
pressure requirements for approved combinations.
