• 

Data Bits / Stop Bits

 – The default settings are 8 and 1 respectively; however, some systems 

may use different settings. 

• 

Mounting Depth

 – Enter the depth of the echo sounder transducer below the water surface. 

• 

Show Incoming Data

 – The data transmitted from your echo sounder will be displayed in 

real-time. If incorrect data (or no data) are being displayed in the 

Echo Sounder Output

 box, 

check your cables, communication settings, and the echo sounder unit. 

• 

Troubleshooting

 – This option runs a troubleshooting program in case you are unable to get 

valid data from your echo sounder unit. It offers possible problem sources and solutions. 

• 

Custom String

 – Use to select the output string identifier and position of the depth parameter 

that will be used to determine the depth measured by the echo sounder. This option permits 
the use of any echo sounder unit after this parameter has been set. Echo sounders that output 
either the SDDPT or SDDBT string do not need to be configured in this way. 

Depth data from the echo sounder can be displayed instead of bottom-track depth by clicking the
