RiverSurveyor System Manual (May 1, 2007)

•
The color of each of the boxes is based on the value of the displayed parameter in the cell
relative to the color
Contour Legend
(§
•
The parameters that can be displayed in the
Contour Window
are:
- Velocity in cm/s or ft/s
- Signal Amplitude in counts
- SNR (Signal-to-Noise Ratio) in dB
Using the default settings, the
Contour Window
(
) will have two white areas – one at
the top of the graph and one at the bottom.
•
Top white area – Represents the distance from the ADP transducer head to the top of the
first cell in the profile.
•
Bottom white area – Represents the water depth (i.e., the riverbed if detected).
Other indicators on the
Contour Window
(
•
If the system should lose its depth reference (bottom-track or echo sounder), a gray vertical
bar will be displayed from the bottom of the
Contour Window
to the last valid recorded
depth. The last valid depth will be used for this profile.
•
A white line runs along the
Contour Window
just above the white bottom area. This
Dis-
charge Cutoff Depth
line represents the cutoff for the valid cells used in discharge calcula-
tions. The calculation of the cutoff for valid cells is determined in the
Velocity Profile Ex-
trapolation
dialog box (§
).
•
The display in the
Contour Window
can be directly related to the areas described in §
–
top unmeasured area
is the white area at the top of the graph.
The
measured area
is the area in between the top unmeasured area and the white line. The
bottom unmeasured area
is the area between the white line and the white bottom area.
•
Special
Contour Window
display settings can be changed through the
Program Configuration
dialog box (
File|Configuration
). The
Contour Display
settings include:
-
Show Bottom Depth on Contour Graph
– the white area at the bottom
-
Show Discharge CutOff Depth
– the white line
-
Show Shallow Water Measurement
– overlays contour graph with shallow water ping data
•
When sub-sectioning a transect (i.e., selecting a range of profiles for the discharge computa-
tion that is less than the full range of available data), profiles not used in the calculation
(outside the profile range selected) will be displayed in the
Contour Window
with a gray
hatch beneath them (
) and as a gray line on the ship track.
