CHECKING ENGINE OPERATION
When operating the engine, follow the readings of the control
instruments and alarm indicators:
1. The temperature of the engine cooling liquid must be within
the range of 80-100
o
С . A short-term (up to 10 min)
temperature increase up to 105
o
С is acceptable. The engine
control system activates the engine outlet coolant temperature
alarm signal within the range of 103-108
o
С .
2. After start-up the engine must be warmed up to the operation
temperature under load. Do not warm up the engine by letting
it run at minimum idle speed for a long time. As soon as the
engine starts reacting to change in the fuel supply and the
break system operation pressure becomes normal, gradually
increase the rpm up to the average operation value and drive-
off at low-range gears.
Placing a cold engine under full
load can result in serious damage to the engine . When the
engine starts reacting to change in the fuel supply, it is ready
to accept load.
3. When the engine is warmed up to the operation temperature
of 80–100
o
С , the oil pressure in the engine block oil line
must be within the range of 400–550 kPa (4.1–5.6 kgf/cm
2
) at
rated speed, and not less than 100 kPa (1.0 kgf/cm
2
) at min.
crankshaft speed of 700±50 min

. The engine control system
activates the oil pressure alarm signal when the pressure in
the oil system is 60–80 kPa (0.61–0.81 kgf/cm
2
).
4. After a long-term engine operation the acceptable oil pressure
value is not below 300 kPa (3.0 kgf/cm
2
) at rated speed, and
not below 60 kPa (0.61 kgf/cm
2
) at minimum idle speed.
5. Do not operate the engine when the air filter clog
indicator is on.
Conduct the air filter maintenance or replace
the filtering elements.
6. Leakage of oil, fuel or cooling liquid, as well as exhaust
gases leakage from all joints at tangage and roll angles up to
35
o
is unacceptable.
