Disposable Sensor

Single Point Calibration
The XVIVO PGM Disposable Sensors
TM
come pre
-
calibrated to STEEN Solution
TM
directly out of the package. However,
since this device is a trend
-
only monitor,
clinical decisions should not be based on
the PGM sensors alone.
It is strongly recommended that the user
draws a confirmatory sample at the be-
ginning and throughout the procedure
to test with a hospital
-
calibrated blood
gas analyzer to match against the trend-
ing numbers provided by the PGM sen-
sors.
Single Point Calibration for pH and PO
2
: A
Single Point Calibration can be performed
at any time during perfusion of the lung,
however the perfusate temperature must
be
≥35
°C. A Single Point Calibration re-
quires comparing the PGM data point to
that of the hospital
’
s blood gas analyzer
and correcting the offset of the PGM data
point.
Draw arterial and/or venous perfusate
samples for gas analysis using a standard
hospital blood gas analyzer. Arterial and
venous perfusate samples should be ob-
tained from the respective ports on the
pressure transducers, using the stopcock
zeroing port.
Select the PGM Single Point Cal button
on the main screen to start the Single
Point Calibration.
Select the sensor(s) you wish to cali-
brate (Arterial and/or Venous). Repeat for
additional sensor (e.g. pH or PO
2
).
When the data is received from the
hospital blood gas analyzer, enter the val-
ues in the appropriate text box. Select
Save for each corresponding data entry.
Select the Close button when finished.
If a recalibration of the PGM sensor(s) is
needed, repeat the steps in Section 2.5.2.
