user and that the size is set correctly. When putting on harnesses, it must always be observed, that they fit tightly,
but do not cause constrictions. Therefore, there should always be that much space that 2 fingers fit between
harness and body.
Intended use:
This equipment must only be used with checked and approved components.
For that, the use of catching eyelets at catching harnesses according to EN 361 is admissible with:
• Height safety devices (EN 360)
• Following catching devices at a mobile guide (EN 353-2)
• Connectors with fall absorber (EN 354 / 355)
• Abseiling and rescue devices (EN 341 or EN 1496, respectively).
For catching harnesses with climbing protection eyelets, the following may be used:
• Following catching devices at stationary guides (EN 353-1).
The use of lateral holding eyelets (EN 358) is admissible with:
• Holding or retaining systems (EN 358).
The use of sitting harness holding eyelets (EN 813) is admissible with:
• Holding or retaining systems (EN 358).
• Abseiling devices (EN 341)
Other combinations of equipment components are inadmissible, since they endanger secure function. The equip-
ment must only be used as intended and under the conditions for use described. Alterations or additions as well
as repairs must only be performed by the manufacturer.
Fastening point:
The fastening point, at which the equipment is fastened, must have a minimum stability of 10 kN
(1 t). The load capacity and position of the fastening point are essential for safety. The position of the fastening
point must therefore always be chosen that way that any free fall is limited to a minimum. It should be located
vertically above the user, if possible, to avoid swinging in case of a fall.Special fastening points must comply
with EN 795 in Europe. In North America, fastening points must comply with the ANSI standard and have a
minimum load capacity of 1.4 t or comply with a verified safety factor of 1:5. For direct connection to structures
it must be observed, that no sharp edges endanger the fastening means and that the connection cannot loosen
itself. In particular, secure locking of any connection elements (karabiners) must be observed. These must likewise
be checked and approved (EN 362).
Note on safety:
Before every use it must be ensured, that the required space underneath the user is that large, that
there is no collision with the ground or any other object in case of a fall. In a catching system, only a catching
harness according to EN 361 must be used as harness. Avoid slackened ropes to keep the falling distance short!
Should your equipment have been strained by a fall, it must be removed from utilisation immediately. Observe,
that external impacts like extreme temperatures, chemicals, sharp and rough edges, slackening of ropes, elec-
trical influences, cuts, abrasion, climatic effects, swinging movements, etc. may reduce the stability or function.
If necessary, protective measures must be taken or the equipment replaced, respectively. Observe risks resulting
from the use of the equipment in the proximity of running machines, electrical or chemical risks, and heat sources.
Also protect your equipment during transport using device bags or cases.
Regular inspections
To guarantee the safety of the user, the equipment must be checked in case of doubt in regards to its safety, at
least, however, once a year by a technical expert (comp. BGR 198 – government safety organisation rules).
During this inspection, legibility of the product marking must be observed, too. The inspection must be performed
according to the regulations of the manufacturer and documented.
Care and storage:
Harness straps and ropes may be cleaned with warm water (40°C) and mild soapsuds.
Subsequently rinse well with clear water. Do not dry wet equipment components in tumble driers or over heat
sources, but hang them up in an airy and shady place. Avoid any contact with chemicals, oils, solvents, and
other aggressive substances in any case. Devices of plastic or metal like height safety devices, abseiling devices,
karabiners, etc. may also be externally cleaned with mild cleaning agents. No solvents or aggressive industrial
cleaning agents must be used, since they may damage plastic housings or also internal, non-visible plastic com-
ponents, and degrease possible lubrication points. Storage is to be dry, at room temperature as well as protected
from solar irradiation, best in device bags or cases to protect the equipment against contact with sharp objects.
Service life:
The duration of the service life depends on the individual usage conditions, whereat the plastic
components are subject to an ageing process, even with careful treatment. With proper storage and a storage
time of up to max. 2 years, harnesses should therefore be replaced after 6 to 8 years, ropes after 4 to 6 years
from their initial use (BGR 198). An overall utilisation period of max. 10 years is possible, if the products are
allocated to one user only, who does not use them excessively, always treats them with due care, and knows the
entire utilisation history of the product. For that, at least once a year an inspection by a technical expert must be
documented stating the examiner and the special product features detected. Furthermore, it must be absolutely
ensured, that the product was always optimally stored, never got in contact with chemicals, gases, or otherwise
damaging substances, and that the total UV irradiation over time did not exceed that of an intensive use over
a period of 4 years.
NOTE:
The product liability of the manufacturer does not cover property damage or bodily injury, which also may
occur with proper function and use as intended of personal protective equipment against fall. In case of altera-
tions of the equipment as well as non-compliance with these instructions or the applicable accident prevention
rules, the extended product liability of the manufacturer becomes void.

Mode d’emploi
