Loading, Turning, And Clamping Logs
To Load Logs
1.
Move the cutting head to the front end of the frame.
CAUTION!
Before loading a log, be sure the cutting head is moved far
enough forward so the log does not hit it. Failure to do so may result in
machine damage.
2.
Adjust the log clamps all the way down and move them toward the loading side of the sawmill frame.
CAUTION!
Be sure the log clamps are all the way down before loading a
log onto the bed. Failure to do so may result in machine damage.
3.
Raise the side supports on the sawmill bed to prevent the log from falling off the side of the bed.
4.
Place the optional loading ramps in the frame brackets that will evenly support the length of the log.
See Figure 3-9.
5.
Position the log at the foot of the ramps.
6.
Use a cant hook to roll the log up the ramps and onto the sawmill bed. Position the log against the side
supports.
7.
Remove the log ramps and set aside.
CAUTION!
The saw head will hit the spring-loaded ramp stops when
adjusted for low cuts. Remove the loading ramps before sawing to prevent
damage to the saw head and/or blade guide arm.
If you did not purchase the optional loading ramps, use boards for ramps or use log loading
equipment to load the log on the sawmill bed.
