– The use of a fault current protective switch is recommended.
– The switch box for the pump(s) should be obtained on site as
an accessory.
If the switch box is provided by the customer,
the following EVU requirements must be
satisfied:
– P2
≤
3,4 kW: direct starting current
– P2
≥
3,9 kW: star delta starting current
The compliance of local regulations is imperative for the
power limit between the direct or the star delta starting
current.
– The protective motor switch should be adjusted to the
nominal motor current as indicated on the rating plate.
– Connection possibility for a thermal winding contact (WSK)
(WSK = closed contact) and the seal (DI) Monitoring
(DI = opened contact):
Connection to 5 V DC, 2 mA.
WSK and DI are on one side of the protective
earthing (PE). For this reason, only a driving
voltage may be used which is separated by
electroplates or unearthed.
Opening the WSK and closing the DI must deactivate the
pump, acknowledgement may only take place manually.
– To guarantee fault-free operation (WSK and DI) the switch
box must also contain the SK 545 monitoring device
(accessory).
– Connecting cables should be connected to the leads as
follows:

6. Operation
It is recommended that commissioning be carried out by Wilo
customer services.
6.1 Controlling the direction of rotation:
The pumps are tested and set to the correct direction of rotation
in the factory.
The correct direction of rotation must be tested before the pump
is submerged. This is indicated by the arrow (ROTOR-ROTATION)
on the upper side of the pump chamber.
– The pump should then be hung in in the hoist.
– Switch the pump on manually for a short period of time. The
pump will then move in the opposite direction (arrow on the
upper side of the gyroscope chamber: START-REACTION) to
the motor rotation.
ATTENTION!
ATTENTION!
– If the direction of rotation is incorrect please observe the
following:
– If Wilo switchgear is used:
Wilo switchgear is designed such that the connected pump
is operated in the correct direction of rotation. If the direction
of rotation is incorrect 2 phases/conductors of the incoming
supply to the switchgear are to be swapped.
– For switch boxes provided by the customer:
If the direction of rotation is incorrect 2 phases must be
changed in motors with direct start-up, and the connections
of two windings changed for those with star-delta start-up,
e.g. U1 for V1 and U2 for V2.
6.2 Adjusting the control level
Adjusting the control level: see instructions for assembly and
installation of the control level.
6.3 Operating condition in potentially explosive locations
The pump may only be operated in potentially explosive locations
once it has been ensured that the pump housing is continually
covered by the flow medium. The control level is to be set so that
this requirement is fulfilled.
The explosion protection is linked to the connection of the motor
monitoring device WSK and DI (see 5.2).
When the pump is installed dry, there is no explosion
protection existing.
7. Maintenance
For all maintenance and repair work the pump is to be
switched off-circuit and protected against
unauthorised re-starting.
In order to avoid infection maintenance work should
only be carried out using protective gloves.
For security reasons maintenance work may only be
carried out in the presence of a second person
and
not in explosive risk-areas
.
– Bearings and seals are maintenance-free.
– We would nevertheless recommend that the pump be
inspected and maintained once every six months by WILO
customer services.
8. Problems, Causes and Solutions
8.1
Safety switch has turned pump off
Cause:
cooling jacket clogged, WSK released.
water in motor cavity, leakage control released
remedy:
– Submit pump for inspection by WILO customer
service.
Cause:
foreign body in the pump, WSK released.
remedy:
– Turn off the pump and ensure that it is not turned on
by unauthorised personnel,
– Close shut-off device behind the pump,
– Lift the pump out of the well,
– Remove foreign bodies from the pump
8.2
Pump has no power
Cause:
The pump sucks in air due to an overly strong drop in
the liquid level.
remedy:
– check the function/adjustments of the control level.
