Note: In a multi-site configuration, all scale up modifications must be
implemented identically at each geographical location.
1.3.2 Scale out kits
Scaling out an ActiveScale P100 increases storage and networking capacity by adding either one or two
new base systems. The System Interconnects in the primary system can be connected to the System
Interconnects of up to two additional ActiveScale P100 systems, with each ActiveScale P100 system per
location.

1.3.3 System Expansion Node kits
System Expansion Node kits provide one additional System Node for your ActiveScale system. Additional
System Nodes allow you to increase system performance with your current storage capacity. You can add
up to three System Expansion Node kits (three additional System Nodes) to each ActiveScale P100
ActiveScale X100 base system. Multi-site deployments can support up to 21 System Expansion Nodes.
System Expansion Node kits are supported with other upgrades, this includes:
• Scale out deployments
• Scale up deployments
• Multi-site deployments
Important: System Expansion Node kits do not provide failover or high-
availability capabilities to ActiveScale systems.
