Accessibility for checking,
maintenance and repairs
When designing the engine room always pay atten-
tion to the accessibility needed to allow proper serv-
ice and repairs to the engine. Also ensure that the
complete engine can be removed without damage to
the boat structure.
A written instruction may be of major help if engine
removal is necessary at a later stage.
NOTE! There must also be sufficient space for the
soundproofing material. Study the dimensional draw-
ings of the relevant engine carefully.

Change of oil filters

Change of fuel filters

Venting fuel system
•
Change of air filter
•
Check of belt tension
•
Change of belts

Removal of valve cover

Change of seawater impeller

Cleaning of water filter

Venting cooling system

Lower crank case inspection covers (if fitted)
•
Removal of injectors
•
Removal of cylinder head
•
Removal of charge air cooler

Removal of oil coolers
•
Removal or change of electrical components

Removal of flywheel and vibration damper

Removal of propeller shaft
