GAS SAFETY ADVICE
Facts about LPG
LPG is not poisonous.
Bi-products are harmless.
LPG is dangerous if all air and oxygen is excluded.
LPG has been given a smell by the manufacturers in order to identify leaks.
The gas is heavier than air and therefore sinks to the lowest point.
Ventilation holes must be kept clear at all times.
Gas Leakage:
In the event of a suspected gas leak the gas must be turned off using the
isolation valve on the gas bottle. Never look for a leak with a match. Always
use a soap solution or its equivalent when testing connections.
Do not operate any electrical apparatus whatsoever, especially light
switches. If the leak is not obvious, the caravan should be evacuated.
A competent gas fitter should then check the system before it is used again.
Regularly check flexible gas hose, joints and connections for tightness.
Finally, make sure that each gas appliance is working efficiently to the
recommendations of the appliance manufacturers.
Carbon Monoxide Alarm:
Your Caravan will be fitted with a Gabel CO-2588 CO alarm, which will
normally be fitted to the internal roof at the front end of the caravan.
The alarm monitors the air for the presence of CO.
The alarm will sound and be accompanied by the flashing red LED light when
there are relevant levels of CO present.
