backward movement to ensure that the fulcrum of the transmission lever
moves past the point of reverse, thus preventing the lever from collapsing,
as it would normally do when reversing.
Most users will find it easier to stand facing the towing unit while applying
the hand brake and at the same time gently push the Caravan an inch or two
backwards with their posterior.
If the Caravan starts to move when uncoupled from the towing unit then the
energy stored in the cylinder is released and the brakes applied in the
normal manner.
Before Setting Off:
Connect the 12V electrical cable (13 Pin Connector) and check caravan lights
(and towing vehicle) are all working correctly.
Check ATC for GREEN LED.
Release the handbrake and ensure that the towing hitch is correctly locked
to the ball.
Finally check around the Caravan to ensure that all doors, windows, lockers
and roof lights are all closed, the corner steadies are fully up and check
around for anything left behind. Check/adjust all mirrors from driving seat
and proceed.
Double check before moving off that the handbrake is in the 'fully off'
position, the breakaway cable is correctly connected and the 13 pin
connecting cable is not liable to snagging. No cable should be allowed to
touch the ground as it will wear and become damaged and ineffective.
