Refit the top case to the bottom case ensuring that the case gasket sits in the groove of the
bottom case and that the FFC sits correctly. Holding the two halves of the case together, turn the
stick reader over so that the underside is uppermost.
5
Clamp the two halves of the case tightly together and tighten the case screws using a torque-
limited screwdriver set to 0.5 Nm (4.5 lbf-in), or hand screwdriver. The screws must be tightened
in the same order as shown in picture in order to obtain a consistent pressure on the case gasket.
Figure 2 Numbers show the order the screws should be tightened in
Note:
If a screw thread strips then that screw may be replaced by a No. 4x 5/8 pan-pozi stainless steel
screw (long case screw) supplied in the screws kit.
Do NOT use a variable speed drill to tighten or undo the screws.
Replacing the gasket for the battery compartment cover

Unscrew the battery compartment cover and remove the battery.
2
Using your fingers, gently peel away the gasket from the battery compartment.
3
Be careful not to damage the mating surfaces of the case. Do not use a knife to remove the
gasket as it may damage the case, even a small cut can create sealing problems.
4
Remove any traces of adhesive and clean away any dirt from the surface of the gasket groove.
5
Replace the gasket starting where there is a gap in the thread (see
Figure 3 Starting point for replacing the gasket
6
