J-Series Data Radio – User Manual
Text User Interface (TUI)
As of firmware release V3.1, the J-Series radios provide a text user
interface which can be accessed via Telnet and Serial connections.
The text user interface (TUI) provides an alternative mechanism for
managing the radio configuration and accessing radio diagnostics.
The TUI provides a very high speed interface even over radios
links that are suffering from high error rates. Online help is also
provided by the TUI. The spectrum analyser and channel lockout
can only be accessed via the TUI. See the next section for
description of spectrum analyzer and channel lockout.
The TUI can be accessed via a Telnet “session” using any one of
the common Telnet based terminal programs, including the native
“Telnet” facility provided with Microsoft Windows based operating
platforms.
Alternatively, the TUI can be access via the serial data port using
a standard RS-232 interface cable. This can be useful when the IP
address of the radio is not known (or has been lost).
Spectrum Analyzer and Channel
Lockout Facility
As of firmware release V3.1, the J-Series radios support a
spectrum analysis and channel lockout facility. This feature allows
the user to perform a spectrum analysis and lockout channels that
may be occupied.
The spectrum analysis facility is only available on any radio type.
However, only on the Access Point and Bridge radios can you
lock out channels. This is because the Access Point and/or Bridge
radios are the only types of radios that specify what hopping
pattern is in use, as well as what channels are excluded from that
pattern.
