CHAPTER 4 - BOILER PIPING

4.7. Hydraulic Separator

• It is recommended on all piping app-

lications to utilize the hydraulic separator

arrangement as a means to provide

freeze protection of the boiler, which is

an integral function of the boiler control.

Maintain at

least the minimum boiler

flow rate. For other piping arrangements,

contact Triangle Tube Technical Support or

consult other approved/recognized design

arrangements.

• On piping applications utilizing a single

zone or other recognized piping design

arrangements, it is recommended that the

installer uses flow/check valves with weighted

seats at or near the INSTINCT Solo to prevent

gravity circulation.

Connecting the hydraulic separator

110 and 155 Models

Ensure the washers are properly seated before tightening
the fittings.

The hydraulic separator is supplied is supplied with

connectors and union fittings to connect to 1”NPT

system pipework.
To fit the hydraulic separator:
Using an appropriate thread sealant fit the 1” connecting

nipple to the Instinct supply outlet then connect the

union fitting. Repeat this with the return connection.

Connect the hydraulic separator to the union fittings

using the sealing washers provided.

The system pipework must be aligned to connect with

the union fittings on the secondary circuit side of the

hydraulic separator. Using an appropriate thread sealant

connect the union fittings to the system pipework.

CAUTION

Note:

Hydraulic Separator shown mounted on the right hand

side. It can be mounted on either side of the boiler.
