Installation
Management software installation consists of installing the following three features:

Agent
❖
Management Proxy
❖
Management Console
Install Agent
1 Install the SNMP service on the network.
2 Install SNMP agent software for the RAID controller.
3 Install the Agent function by logging onto Windows NT or Windows 2000 (you must
have administrator authority).
NOTE: To install SNMP, follow the procedures specific to each OS. For details about
TCP/IP and SNMP, please refer to the appropriate User’s Guide for each OS.
TECHNICAL NOTE: To enable an Agent to output SNMP traps or display Agent
information on the Management Console, the SNMP properties must be properly
set up in advance.
SNMP settings for Agent installation:
Select the check box for Send authentication trap. Select public for Accepted
community names and select READ CREATE, READ WRITE, or READ ONLY
for Authority. Finally, select the option button for Receive SNMP packets from all
hosts.
If you want to select Receive SNMP packets from the following host(s), write the
IP address of the PC in which the Management Proxy function is installed.
To enable the Agent to send alarm messages to the Management Proxy, open
the SNMP Service Properties dialog box on the computer in which the Agent
function is installed. The, in the Trap destinations field of the properties dialog
box, specify public in Community name setting. In Trap destinations setting,
specify the IP address of the computer in which the Management Proxy function
is installed.
To obtain information on a RAID controller (RAID configuration information), the
RAID controller card, driver, and SNMP agent software must be installed in
advance. For the installation procedures, please refer to the appropriate User’s
Guide.
