MegaRAID Console Server
This server holds the databases for all registered RAID servers. It responds to Internet
browser requests. The MegaRAID Console server runs WEBRAID and RegServ
programs.
REGSERV
The Registration Server contains a database of all computers that have registered as
users of the RAID Server. Before any computer running the RAID Server can use
MegaRAID Configuration Console, it must be registered in the Registration Server. This
application runs on Windows NT and Windows 2000 only.
WEB Server
This application runs on the MegaRAID Console Server and responds to Internet
browser requests. The browser connects directly to LSI RAID-aware WebServer.
Installation sets the Web Server port number to a default of 5555.
SPYSER
The monitoring application for the MegaRAID controllers is called SPYSER.
The SPYSER program looks for drive media errors, failed drives, and Self-Monitoring,
Analysis, and Reporting Technology (S.M.A.R.T.) status changes. It can mark drives as
failed after the error threshold is reached and start automatic rebuilds. It starts and runs
in the background when the OS starts.
NOTE: The LSI WebServer can coexist with any other WebServer that the user
might have. The LSI WebServer can be configured to listen to any port the user
chooses, so potential conflicts can be avoided.
NOTE: SPYSER settings can be modified in IDERAID Options by clicking the
Advanced button link in the MegaRAID Configuration Console main HTML page.
IDERAID Options are monitored by the SPYSER program.
Self-Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology (S.M.A.R.T.) is a feature built
into the hard disk drive that checks for potential problems that can crash the hard
disk drive. Not all hard disk drives have this feature.
