Appendix A—Recommended torque values
for head cap screws
This appendix provides recommended torque values for the various
fasteners used on the imPULSE S.U.M. These fasteners should be
tightened by trained personnel or with the assistance of a Thermo
Fisher Scientific technician. Refer to Chapter 9 for information about
contacting Thermo Fisher Scientific.
The components used in Thermo Scientific equipment are subjected to
high dynamic loads, stress reversals, and vibration. To ensure that the
equipment operates properly and safely, threaded fasteners must be
correctly torqued. The seating torque values in the following tables are
recommended for the designated fasteners used in Thermo Scientific
imPULSE mixers, unless otherwise specified by Thermo Fisher
Scientific technicians.
Should proper seating during component assembly/reassembly require
exceeding the correct torque, it is strongly recommended to discard
the over-torqued fasteners after the assembly/reassembly is completed.
Replace the discarded fasteners with new fasteners that are torqued to
the recommended values in the following tables.
