Dew Point Utility
This utility provides a calculation of Dew Point from the chamber temperature and humidity
readings. It can be used as a reference only. It serves no other purpose and cannot be graphed,
logged, or controlled.
It may be useful to understand Dew Point for several purposes. For example, the low humidity
limit of the chamber without GN2 or Dry Air Purge is a 6 ° C Dew Point. This corresponds to
40% RH at 20 ° C. If you are already at this condition and are trying to go lower in humidity, you
will likely not be able to go much lower.
Another use is to understand why there is condensation on your test sample. If the chamber is at
85 ° C and 85% RH, the Dew Point will be 81 ° C. Any surface in the chamber that is just 4 ° C
lower than the air temperature will have condensation on it.
To access the Dew Point calculation, press Menu , Operations , Machine Controls , Math , and
finally
Math 1
.
There will a 15-second delay before Machine Controls is fully populated if it is the first time
you press it after turning the Power switch on.
In the example below, Source Value A is the chamber temperature (18.5
°
C), Source Value B is
the chamber humidity (60.2% RH), and Output Value is Dew Point temperature (10.6 ° C).
