6.2.3. FEEDER FUNCTIONING DESCRIPTION
The reducers are filled with synthetic oil by the manufacturer, which does not need to be changed during the whole
period of operation. A reducer is connected with the worm feeder through a clutch in which a screw functions as a safety
device protecting it against damage In the case of blocking off the worm. The worm transports the fuel from the bunker
to the bottom part of the retort.
The retort construction: The retort with accurately placed primary air jets is a monolithic knot. The retort jets, through
which the primary air is supplied are made of grey cast iron.
Deflector: The height above ground is established by the manufacturer of the boiler. Usually the deflector is placed 100-
150 mm above the upper edge of the retort. The deflector maintains the flame In the retort.
6.2.3.1. STARTING THE BOILER BURNING
PRINCIPLE:
In short, the principle of the boiler functioning is the burning of the fuel in the “retort” furnace. The boiler
combusts the amount of fuel which is needed to reach and maintain the required temperature . The fuel is
supplied to the furnace in the worm system. Burning takes place with a help of the air supplied through the
fan.The amount of the supplied fuel and the time for its combustion depends among other things on the
appropriate temperature. The time of feeding and standstill of the feeder /the time for fuel combustion/
should be set according to one’s own needs .
In order to start the system it is essential to:
-Fill the tank with the fuel and close it firmly. During combustion the tank must be firmly closed.
- Connect the steering to the electrical system.
- In the boilers (size 26, 39 i 50 in option) where the exhaust deflector is suspended from heavy bar cast iron grates, the
grates should be removed, leaving only the two of them from which the deflector is suspended. Deflector should
be In the central position above the retort furnace. It does not apply to the models without an additional cast iron
grate.
- Switch on the fuel feeder engine until the fuel appears in the furnace up to the level of the blow- in holes. The top of the
fuel cone in the retort should be placed centrally to the geometrical center of the retort. Put some kindling or paper
on the fuel, small pieces of wood onto it, set alight and when the wood is burning (approximately 3 min), add fuel.
It is impermissible to use patrol, kerosene or solvents to fire the boiler as they may cause an
explosion or serious burns to the user.
The air inlet opening into the fan should initially be closed off with a valve, the fan switched on and the ash box door
closed. When the fuel starts to burn uncover the air inlet opening with a valve and leave the flame until the full lighting
ie. about 5 min.
