5.4. Use of the manual suction unit (optional)
The A80 can be equipped with a manual suction unit. This can be used to suck up dirt manually.
This unit can remain mounted on the vehicle, also if it is not used for a longer period of time.
The manual suction unit can be used independently or in combination with the sweeper unit.
If the manual suction unit is used in combination with the sweeper unit, the suction force is divided
between the manual suction unit and the suction mouth. As a result suction is not very effective.
Also in this situation two operators must work with the machine.
When all available suction force is needed for the manual suction unit, in other words when only
the manual suction unit is used, the suction mouth has to be closed with the slide behind the cabin
on the rubbish hopper. For this purpose the rubbish hopper has to be tipped to a height of 10 cm
(see § 3.10). In this situation a single operator can be used. In contravention to the safety
regulations described in § 2.2, this operator is allowed to leave the cabin while the fan and water
pump are switched on.
Always ensure sufficient air displacement inside the hose to be able to transport the
rubbish to the rubbish hopper. Therefore do not hold the hose inside the rubbish, but
just above it.
Always point the manual suction unit at the ground and never at persons.
1)
Bring the vehicle to a halt.
2)
Engage the hand brake.
3)
Deactivate all engaged functions.
4)
Tilt the rubbish hopper 10 cm by means of the remote
control (see § 3.10).
5) If required, close off the suction mouth by means of the
slide behind the cabin (see fig. 15).
6) Disconnect the attachment points of the manual suction
unit and take it to the workplace.
7) Attach the water hose between the connection of the
hosing-down hose (fig. 16, A) and the connection on the
swivel head of the manual suction unit (fig. 16, B).
