4.2.
Starting the vehicle
The vehicle can only be started when:
•
the driver is seated on the driver's seat,
•
the hand brake has been engaged, and
•
the forward / reverse selector is in neutral (N).
1)
Occupy the driver's seat.
2)
Place your right foot beside the pedal.
3)
Put the forward / reverse selector in neutral (N) (see paragraph 3.2).
4)
Switch on the hand brake (fig. 7, no. 7).
5)
Check that all functions are deactivated.
6)
Turn the ignition key to the first setting.
7)
Wait until the indicator light is switched off.
8)
Then turn the ignition key to the next position and release it as soon as the diesel engine
is running.
9)
Rev the engine briefly and then release it.
The dynamo indicator lamp is extinguished and the diesel engine is idling.
4.3.
Driving the vehicle
The forward / reverse selector is still in neutral (N).
The engine speed is stationary, ±900 revs/min.
1)
Check that the sweeping unit is raised (fig. 6, no. 13), and whether the brushes are
underneath the vehicle (fig. 21, no. 5. & 6).
2)
Release the hand brake.
3)
Select the desired driving direction with the forward/reverse selector (see section 3.2).
The operating functions required for driving the vehicle are given below:
Driving
Pressing down the accelerator pedal (fig. 2, no. 9) will move the vehicle slowly forward,
whereby the engine speed of the diesel engine will gradually increase.
The speed can be regulated by the extent to which the pedal is pressed.
Braking
The vehicle’s hydraulic drive system ensures that the vehicle will gradually stop when the
accelerator pedal is released.
When the foot brake (fig. 2, no. 11) is used, the vehicle immediately brakes forcefully.
•
The operator must continuously observe the traffic situation and adapt his
own situation and actions to it. He must ensure that his attention is not
distracted from the traffic.
•
The mirrors, indicators and lights must be used properly.
