ANSWER 

Can I use the DAS system in 
place of a strip chart recorder or 
data logger? 

Yes.  Section 4.7 describes the setup and operation of the DAS system in 
detail. 

How often do I need to change 
the particulate filter? 

Once per week or as needed.  Table 6-1 contains a maintenance schedule 
listing the most important, regular maintenance tasks.  Highly polluted 
sample air may require more frequent changes. 

How long does the sample pump 
last? 

The sample pump should last one to two years and the pump head should 
be replaced when necessary.  Use the 

RCEL

 pressure indicator on the front 

panel to see if the pump needs replacement. 

If this value goes above 10 in-Hg-A, on average, the pump head needs to 
be rebuilt. 

Why does my RS-232 serial 
connection not work? 

There are several possible reasons: 

•

  The wrong cable, please use the provided or a generic “straight-

through” cable (do not use a “null-modem” type cable), 

•

  The DCE/DTE switch on the back of the analyzer is not set properly; 

make sure that  both green and red lights are on, 

•

  The baud rate of the analyzer’s COM port does not match that of the 

serial port of your computer/data logger.  See Section 7.5.12 more 
trouble-shooting information.
