T o assure in s tru m e n t accuracy, check the c a lib ra tio n o f
th e 4 3 4 every 1000 hours o f o p e ra tio n , o r every six m o n th s
if used in fre q u e n tly . B efore c o m p le te c a lib ra tio n , th o r
o u g h ly clean and inspect th is in s tru m e n t as o u tlin e d in the
M aintenance section.

Using This Procedure
T o aid in lo ca tin g a step in the C a lib ra tio n p rocedure, an
index is given p rio r to th e c o m p le te p rocedure. C o m p le tio n
o f each step in the fu ll C a lib ra tio n p rocedure insures th a t
th is in s tru m e n t meets th e e le ctrica l sp e cifica tion s given in
S ection
1. Where possible, in s tru m e n t p e rfo rm a n ce is
checked b e fo re an a d ju s tm e n t is made. F o r best overall
in s tru m e n t pe rfo rm a n ce w hen p e rfo rm in g a c o m p le te c a li
b ra tio n p ro ce d u re , m ake each a d ju s tm e n t to the exact
setting even if the C H E C K — is w ith in the a llo w a b le to le r
ance.
A p a rtia l c a lib ra tio n is o fte n desirable a fte r replacing
co m p o n e n ts, or to to u c h up the a d ju s tm e n t o f a p o rtio n o f
the in s tru m e n t betw een m a jo r re c a lib ra tio n . T o ad ju st o n ly
p a rt o f the in s tru m e n t, set the c o n tro ls as given u n d e r
P re lim in a ry C o n tro l S ettings and sta rt w ith the nearest
E q u ip m e n t R equired L is t preceding the desired p o rtio n . T o
p revent unnecessary re c a lib ra tio n o f o th e r parts o f the
in s tru m e n t, readjust o n ly if the tolerance given in the
