replaced  th a t  w o u ld  cause  the setting o f  R 1074  to be

 

incorrect,  i f   the  p o w e r  su p p ly  p o rtio n   o f   this

 

in s tru m e n t  has  been  w o rkin g   c o rre c tly ,  p roceed w ith

 

step  2.

a. 

T u rn   o ff  in stru m e n t  pow er,  disconnect  the  pow er 

line,  and  remove  the  power  supply  co m p a rtm e n t shields  to  
provide  access  to   leads  connected  to   transistor  Q 1080.  See 
Fig.  5-1.

U nder  certain  c o n d itio n s .  C l 0 1 6   can  rem ain  charged

 

fo r  several  m inutes.  I f   one  o f   the  tw o   neon  bulbs on

 

the  P rim a ry  Pow er  S u p p ly  c irc u it  b o a rd   is  s till  l i t

 

w ith   in s tru m e n t  p o w e r  tu rn e d   o ff,  w a it  u n til  b o th

 

lights  are  extinguished b e fo re  a tte m p tin g   to   discharge

b.  C onnect  the  P6021  C u rre n t  Probe  around  the  co lle c­

to r  lead  (grey-yellow   w ire   to   pin  2  o f  P I 02  on  Power 
Supply  P rim ary  c irc u it  board)  o f  Q 1080 w ith   the  arrow   on 
the  head  o f  the  C u rre n t  Probe  p o in tin g   to   the  c o lle c to r  o f 
Q 1080.

c.  C onnect  the  Passive  T e rm in a tio n   fo r  the  C urrent 

Probe  to   the  in p u t  connector  o f  the  test  oscilloscope  and 
connect the  C urrent  Probe  to   the  Passive T e rm in a tio n .

d. 

Reconnect  the  line  cord  and  tu rn   on  in stru m e n t 

pow er  to   the  434  under  test.
